The Worshipful Master, Officers and Brethren thank you for taking the time to visit our website. Hopefully you may gain some insight to our small, friendly, and family orientated Freemasons Lodge.
Installation meeting November 2023.
What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is one of, if not the oldest fraternal and charitable organisation in the world, the roots of which are based on the medieval stonemasons who built our great castles and cathedrals hundreds of years ago. The regalia, objects and symbols used in our lodges are representative of the tools and communications from those times to distinguish qualified craftsmen from lower skilled labourers at a time when literacy was low. Today as freemasons we use these as analogies to enable our members to live good lives and be productive in their community, applying them in the values of morality, integrity, friendship, respect and charity to help good men become better men.
The United Grand of of England have some excellent videos on YouTube explaning what Freemasonry is about.
Our Values
Integrity
Rather than working on buildings like the masons of old, today’s Freemasons focus on building themselves as people of integrity, (we do have amongst us builders along with other professions) membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal.
Friendship
One of the oldest social organisations in the world, Freemasonry is not defined by an ideology. It is open to people from all religions and political persuasions and provides the common foundation for friendships between members, many of which will last for life.
Respect
With more than 150,000 people drawn from communities across the UK, Freemasonry unites people irrespective of race, religion, sexual orientation and other perceived differences that so often divides society.
Charity
This where we make a difference, never seen shaking a tin for collections on the street, kindness and charitable giving come from the heart of every Freemason who strive to make a positive impact to communities and worthwhile causes with fundraising events.
